BALAUR

4 years in the making. The AEVIG Balaur concept started in August 2012 as a project watch for the Watchuseek watch forum. The idea was a bit rough and didn’t get made but the seed was planted.

A year later with one project watch for Watchuseek under the belt and one other in the works I started AEVIG to bring the designs that didn’t really fit the forumproject criteria but did excite enough people who asked for these watches.

Since the Balaur was my first design I tried to bring it to life and found China’s largest watch manufacturer willing to produce a prototype. Some months later in late 2014 I received photos of their attempt… It didn’t look right.

Long story short, I terminated the relationship and moved on with two other watch designs through a different manufacturer. Right off the bat AEVIG was well received among watch collectors and enthusiasts alike. However people that followed AEVIG’s development kept asking for the dualcrown Balaur.

Originally conceived as an affordable forumproject I now wanted to aim higher and make it even better. Meanwhile the manufacturer that had the first shot at producing a prototype for the Balaur had put out a near copy of the rejected sample under their own brand.

The challenge was now on to show how the dualcrown is done right. A few years down the line from the original concept, the Balaur is more streamlined while maintaining a bold look with retro flair.

So here she is. The AEVIG Balaur dualcrown diver/GMT sporting a Swiss ETA 2824-2 movement, 300m water-resistant with internal bezel that shows hour markings and countdown time, topped with a double domed sapphire and paired with a comfortable custom bracelet.

At 42mm wide by 49mm long and sleek profile it still packs a bold look with the grippy dualcrowns and 13.5mm thickness. Swiss C3 (black dial) or BG-W9 (blue dial) Luminova keeps visibility of the time nice and bright.

Black and blue Balaur all sold out. Added to the range later is one with rosegold accents. Also sold out.

It all works seamlessly to draw you in and make you love it.
