tritium illuminated dresswatch
Tritium is a weak radioactive gas combined with phosphorescent material encased in a small tube. The tritium energizes the phosphor and makes it continiously glow unlike regular lume that needs charging by light. Tritium powered lume stays charged for up to 25 years.
Before automatics there were manualwind watches. The modern Miyota 8N33 manualwind movement can be seen through the exhibition caseback.
The +40hrs powerserve skeletonized movement is a marvel to look at.
automatic version of the corvid fieldwatch
Automatic version of the popular Aevig Corvid. The auto version will be updated with a sapphire crystal for maximum scratch resistancy. Choice of movement will be the Swiss STP 1-11 with hacking function to precisely coordinate time.
The automatic Corvid is expected to be released late 2017
The Scyedam Autochron is a concept for a seventies automatic chronograph. Automatic chronographs are rare and expensive movements. With affordability in mind this concept has yet to reach prototype phase.
However a compromise can be made with the use of the Seiko VK64 Mecaquartz chrono movement for mass production next to a limited run of true autochrons. The VK64 mecaquartz is a quartz chronograph with a smooth running 1/5sec secondhand mimicking the mechanical counterpart and has an instant flyback reset function vs the 360 degree turn in regular quartz chronographs.
The VK64 equiped Mecachron would be in the €300 range where as an automatic will be a minimum 3 to 4 times more expensive.
